From our Parish newsletter in Blenheim, our chairperson’s reflection to begin the year
We are already pretty much through the first month of 2026 and as I sit here and write the for the first newsletter of the year , I think of all the promise and excitement that 2026 will bring to us all spiritually, physically and mentality. But this year has started tough for a lot of us , there have been some very sad tragic events happen in Blenheim, NZ, and the world. The loss of some of our worshiped parishioners this month has really affected myself and I’m sure many others in some way in our catholic community.
The celebration of Paul McClean’s life on the 25th of January was a great celebration of a wonderful caring soulful man, who passed away way too soon. Also, the loss of a Johan Van der Geest another great man and parishioner we will miss his charm and faithfulness. I’m sure they both have a place in heaven looking down on us with smile.
Reading this week’s Gospel from Mathew about Jesus on the mountain and how he spoke to his disciples and how he told to them about being happy in tough situations “Happy those who morn and, they will be comforted “
So, as we climb the mountain of 2026 remember some words from Tina Conor McClean speech honouring her soul mate Paul last week .
Count all the blessings you have , there are many.
Make more moment’s where you can enjoy and live for the day.
Keep developing your spirituality so that you are brought closer to the truth, love, and peace
