In Sharing our Story, I am drawing on our recent Assembly in Saigon (HCMC). Mrs Mary Thu Ho was one of two people who are Passionist Companions, and shared her story of what the Church means to her. I was struck by her use of the Emmaus Inn as a metaphor for our community of faith and love.

Our song this month is Funke. This is a simple upbeat song called, “How Are You”.

The video is of Anne Lamott, an American author and speaker who writes about faith, family, addiction, recovery, and writing. She talks about the things of which she is absolutely sure about.

The reading is inspired by Mrs Mary Thu Ho sharing of The Emmaus Story. I can claim no credit for any of this. It’s genesis is from a conversation with Fr Jerome Crowe, CP, who spoke of going to an art exhibition in Adelaide. There were a number of paintings of the Road to Emmaus. The one that struck him was the image of the woman washing up after the meal, with the two disciples seen through the window of the kitchen. I put this into AI earlier this year, and ask them to make a painting with those ideas. And then I asked AI to write a reflection based on the Painting. This is the result.

And finally, our person of note. Fr Bob Caudill is a Catholic priest who has a soup kitchen in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who is daily fined by the City for running an unauthorised soup kitchen. The total is up to $US500,000!
