THE OLD BUSH TRACK
As the old coach rolled and pitched
along the old bush track,
One sat looking forward,
and one sat looking back.
One searched the wide horizon
for a bright and better day,
And one saw the disappointing road,
till it too slipped away.
One surveyed the weaving road
for the hopes that lay ahead,
The daring mountain trail,
an adventure to be had.
And one saw the ruts and potholes
that littered the old bush track.
The fences never mended.
Old houses, all alone, outback.
And one moved on to new tomorrows
with belief and hope secure,
That the hurdles never last long,
that faith and daring endure.
And one saw the broken axles,
of journeys never ended.
old coaches left abandoned:
Dreams and hopes surrendered.
As the old coach rolled and pitched
Along the old bush track.
One sat looking forward,
And one sat looking back.
